Firsts, Flops, and Fresh Ideas

Edition 4, Vol. #5 August 2025
Hi, friend,
I naturally gravitate to what’s new and shiny, but even by my standards, this month has been especially shiny with “firsts.”
- First use of Copilot to draft an estimate with AI? Oh, how those beautiful numbers effortlessly appeared out of our data.
- First time watercolor painting? Yep, that was me up late trying to make my blueberries bluer.
- First-ever WordsFresh webinar? I didn’t expect that to be quite so fun.
Now, about that webinar. In this one, we packed a ton of value into a short session for leaders managing open enrollment communications.
In fact, webinars will likely be an ongoing offering from us. We’ve been invited to co-host a webinar on change management communications at the end of August. More on that soon. If you have other topics you’d like us to cover in future webinars, just shoot me a message.
Some firsts, like our webinar, lead to seconds. And some firsts, well … let’s just say those blueberries are going to stay purple.

Missed Our Webinar? Here’s How to Supercharge Open Enrollment

What do a hospital, food-service company and manufacturing business have in common? They all transformed open enrollment using the same three smart communication moves.
In this practical, example-packed webinar, we break them down so you can steal what works.
Bonus: While you’re checking out the webinar, download more free stuff:

What AI Won’t Tell You

We were early adopters of AI tools and continue to grow and learn alongside our clients. These tools have helped us deliver sharper strategy, deeper insights and more personalized communications.
But AI won’t tell you how to get the most from the AI-powered tools already built into your tech stack or which new ones could enhance your team’s unique workflow and challenges.
That takes a human who understands not just AI, but how communicators think and work. Right now, we’re helping a Fortune 500 comms organization unlock an incredible amount of firepower.
If you’re looking for someone who speaks both AI and communications, let’s talk.

Could the Right Professional Development Help Level Up Your Comms Team?

Most professional development workshops are too broad, too basic or too boring, especially for people in communications. That’s why we created Write Brain, presented by WordsFresh: a hands-on, high-energy workshop designed specifically for comms professionals.
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a day of deep exploration, fresh tools and hands-on exercises that challenge your thinking while pumping up your energy.
- Smart, useful strategic tools you’ll actually reuse
- Practical guidance on AI usage for communicators
- Collaborative activities that are fast-paced and creatively engaging
- A beautifully designed workbook to guide your learning and spark new ideas long after the session ends
- Customization to your unique needs, if desired
Here’s what some participants have told us:
- “I would recommend this training to those in the comms field as well as multifunctional partners who have responsibility for comms-related work.”
- “Thank you! This training was amazing and I was just talking to my manager about my key takeaways and how I could really see this being reapplied for others.”
- “Some great reminders for what we should be doing, but good new learning, frameworks and concepts too.”
Whether your team joins us in person or virtually, they’ll walk away energized, aligned and equipped to do their best work yet.
